Bridge Classes           "Beyond the Basics"

** WHEN **              7PM to 9PM

** WHERE **           Unitarian Church

669 Union Street

Manchester, NH

Rick will be clarifying numerous topics of interest proposed by previous students:

Bidding without points:

· when to bid on points and when to bid on suit length

· when is it right to “bid one more” (and not have partner keep bidding!)

· forcing bids you can make without jumping (and losing valuable bidding space)

· bidding after 3 passes without a good hand - is it ever correct?

· eliminate confusion over Transfers Bids

Slam bidding:

· what constitutes a good trump fit?

· fancy Blackwood: why are the K and Q of trumps so important?

Defending:

· what does the bidding tell you?

· why we select the suit to lead before we choose the card to lead

· why we show COUNT during defense of a hand

Declaring:

· what’s the big deal about drawing trumps?

· do you look for finesses? or long suits to set up?

· do you still “count to 13”?

or do you know your hand distributions?
